Flowers June to November
Yarrow is a strong-smelling perennial. The leaves are like feathers and are aromatic if crushed. The plant is 50cm tall, with feathery leaves and clusters of white, flat-topped. Enjoys dry soils, meadows and clearings, and is often found along path-sides.
The plant is named after the Greek hero, Achilles who is supposed to have used the plant to treat wounds on the battle field. Yarrow is used in a host of remedies, from healing wounds to colds and fever, stomach ulcers and rheumatism.
